Regional Account Manager, Flavor Accounts

The Regional Account Manager will be responsible for defining and implementing regional strategy by developing strategic account plans, sales forecasts, and budgets for assigned accounts in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Developing market knowledge and an understanding of customer potential through the analysis of brand strategies, you will identify key strategic growth opportunities coming from our customers’ winning brands in your region. In this field-based position, you will jointly develop, communicate, and implement Customer Development Plans for the Benelux region to maintain existing business and to increase turnover and profit.

This is a unique opportunity for a highly autonomous Sales professional to independently manage a major portfolio of regional and international accounts in collaboration with our global experts at our centers of expertise in Germany. The position will be home-based in the Netherlands with regular travel within the assigned region and to our technical and commercial hubs in Germany (Holzminden / Nördlingen).

Main accountabilities include but are not limited to

  • Manage regional, strategic or international accounts in Flavor with a focus on sweets and beverages to achieve budgeted sales and gross profit results
  • Grow our regional business with designated accounts by proactively creating a broad base of new business opportunities, managing both top and bottom line
  • Cultivate customer relationships with key decision-makers, positioning Symrise as preferred supplier
  • Ensure Symrise is well-positioned to participate in targeted briefs and on core lists
  • Manage large commercial projects in collaboration with the Business Unit Flavor, Key Account Management, Market Intelligence/Sensory & Consumer Insights, Supply Chain and Regulatory Affairs


  • University degree in Food Science, Economics or another relevant discipline
  • At least 5 years of successful sales, marketing or customer relationship experience in food ingredients or related industry; direct category experience in sweet or beverage is beneficial
  • Experience in the flavor and/or food ingredients industry, including consumer and industry trends
  • Fluency in English and Dutch; additional language skills in Flemish or French are an asset
  • Strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting skills; proven ability to identify value drivers
  • Understanding of customer strategy, initiatives, priorities, launch processes, and how to position Symrise offerings
  • Strong user knowledge of relevant IT applications such as MS Office and SAP
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact within a highly matrixed business environment and a broad network of internal stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Independent working style; proven ability to prioritize and manage workload appropriately
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
